Appreciation & Happiness – Despite Loss

Rabbi Shimon Schwab at age 76 lost his ability to walk- He remained confined to a wheel-chair
but was able to remain extremely positive, upbeat and optimistic. He was asked how this was possible?
The Rabbi said “If someone gave you million dollars and then after 76 years asked for a $100 back –
Wouldn’t you still be happy? More than a challenge of loss is our challenge to appreciate our gifts
instead of taking them as a given. Rabbi Weinberg used to say “How much could I give you for one of your
