Rabbi
Shimon Schwab at age 76 lost his ability to walk- He remained confined to a
wheel-chair
but
was able to remain extremely positive, upbeat and optimistic. He was asked how
this was possible?
The
Rabbi said “If someone gave you million dollars and then after 76 years asked
for a $100 back –
Wouldn’t
you still be happy? More than a challenge of loss is our challenge to appreciate
our gifts
instead
of taking them as a given. Rabbi Weinberg used to say “How much could I give
you for one of your
eyes
– a million dollars – two- ? Is there any amount of money I could give you for
them? We are walking
around
with gifts worth more than all the money in the world. Let’s enjoy our gifts
and use them responsibly
